Development of a Health Information Evaluation System On the Internet

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a health related information evaluation system to assure the quality of health information on the internet by eliminating incorrect or misleading information. Literature in the areas of information control and information appraisal on the internet were reviewed. Based on the literature review a health information evaluation system including an evaluation tool with eight criteria and 32 items were proposed. The validity of the tool was tested via e-mail survey of 14 health informaties experts. In order to for this evaluation system and tool to he utilized widely. those who are involved in producing. processing. and utilizing health-related information as well as policy makers and vendors should collaborate and reach the consensus among them.
